Unfortunately!
Dang. I was drag-ed back to the airport on Sat night after a road-trip..
I have fallen in love with the sluggish life there, I've caught the bug.. Opps..
There are ton of photos waiting for me to upload and edit, so i they wouldn't be up yet! So let me update on what happened on the first day of the trip.. I almost die there and then at the airport. =X
Day One
Our Flight was scheduled to go off at 1550 and we are asked to check-in our luggage 2 hours prior. Okay, checked. We managed to reach the airport at 1340 to check-in our luggage and supposed to enter boarding gates at 1540.
You guys must be thinking,
"
Wah, reach there 2 hours earlier what, so what's the problem
sia.."
Gosh, the problem is, we thought we had plenty of time on hand, so we decided to have lunch at Popeye which is located at either T1 or T3. The only way to get there from Budget Terminal is to take the shuttle bus provided..
So, we happily boarded the bus...
lalalala~ The bus cruised on to T2,
We thought:
"Okay
lorx, reach T2 already, next stop sure either T1 or T3 one"
So we happily sat on and to our horror, the bus went back to Budget Terminal.. We found out that the bus only goes to T2.. Time check: 1355.
Then we were like:
"
Hmm, there should still be enough time to grab lunch if we make another shuttle trip again.. The bus waited for 5 minutes and heads off again. We reach T2 at about 1415 and had to walk all the way down to take the sky train to T3. Waited for the Sky train for 4 minutes. Time check:1425
When we reach T3, it was about 1430 and i have no freaking idea how to get to the Popeye there as I've only been there once. After walking and asking around, we had to walk all the way from one end to the other at the basement to reach Popeye's. Time check: 1440
Finally we reached Popeye,
URGH.. The queue is
FREAKING FREAKING LONG.For non-peak standards, it's really scary. The people serving were quite slow as well. When we finally got our food and settle down to eat, it's already 1500.
Practically had to gorge ourselves with the mashed potato and chicken. Time Check: 1515. Realise that we may be possibly late already, i quickly packed up the whole of untouched fries and made a dash back to the sky train. Time Check: 1523
Dang. When we reach the sky train, we've missed the train back to T2, the next train is 6 minutes. Okay now, let's do our maths, how can we possibly reach budget terminal when we had to wait for 6 minutes then walk to the shuttle bus area and wait for it to turn up to budget terminal. It will take more then 15 minutes when we only have like 13 minutes. Unless I'm superman, i know we can hardly beat the clock.
As usual, i panicked and dear formulated a plan as best as he could. We still took the train to T2, dashed out of the taxi drop off point. It's illegal to get a cab there and we met an
uber-nice traffic officer that let us on a cab when the uncle repeatedly refused to pick us just because he was timid and afraid of the fine he will get and only took us up with the acknowledgement of the officer..Time Check: 1535
When we reach the boarding entrance of Budget Terminal, i swear it was the fastest 500m dash I've ever made. We cross the passport check point at 1540. Yes, boarding gates should be closed right now. We made it from the passport check point to boarding gate in less then 2 minutes. Seriously. I never knew how i could run that fast with a laptop on hand. I bet the theory of a few angry dogs trying to bite your butt off works as well to achieve that speed.
The whole plane is practically waiting for us and although the stewardess didn't look as happy, i couldn't heck care any further. I mean, i got on the plane with that a lot a lot of luck. Have to thank that traffic officer, without him, I'm very certain my luggage would still be spinning on the conveyor belt in Perth without me. Time Check: 1550.
We did make the plane delayed a little, i apologise greatly for it, but you can't tell how anxious and how close I'm going to suffer a heart attack with all these commotions..
So when we all thought that all the
hoo-ha has ended. Sorry, there are more stories after 5 and a half hours. After we landed in Perth International Airport, we are all seriously worn out with the pressure, dry air and cramp leg space. Could be due to the previous commotions, when we filled in the immigration cards, we misread a line for food in the tiny card. According on it, we are supposed to declare when we bring
ANY food in. We only saw the back part of preserved or raw food. So obviously, we did not bring any raw food. When we cross the luggage checks, we meet this really rude and arrogant officer.
How Rude?
A-hole: " Do you understand English?"
Me: *Blurry-eyes* "Yup"
A-hole:" Can you read the sentence on line 6?"
Me: "Blah blah blah.."*Interrupted by A-hole
A-hole: "No No No, read from the start, every single word of it. "
Me: "Blah Blah blah from the Start.."
A-hole: "There you go, did you see the word Any in it? What does any food means?" *Smirks*
Me: *Cursing and swearing in me, would really want to put a knife through his face*
A-hole: "Now, off you go to the
quarantine line, you would be charged with a 200 dollars fine." *Expression of 'What a lousy
Asian you are, and you can do nothing about it because you just suck'*
Seriously, feel like punching him in the face.
heh-heh. But i guess, i still had a little luck left from the afternoon.
After being
forced led to the
quarantine queue, A-hole left to go back to where he came from and continue to screw more people. We went to a counter where there's this cute 20 something officer (his name is nick by the way. =D) who is very very nice and check through our bags and declared we are fine. He even kindly told us why they are so strict to the items we bring in. So people, next time when you step food into
Australia, read properly what they need you to declare okay. You wouldn't want to be hit with a fine at the start of your trip..
Thus, we reach Perth on a cold Saturday night and Tim picked us up shortly after we reached. We did go to one place before we went to our hotel to check in. Stay tuned for next post for more update on my trip okay.. =D
